Physiotherapy FAQ’s

How much does a physiotherapy session cost?

Our physiotherapists will need to do an initial assessment before treating you. The combined costs of this is £70 and then follow up treatments cost £60. We are registered with all the major health insurance companies, all of which cover physiotherapy treatments.

How long is a physiotherapy appointment?

The first appointment will consist of an initial assessment as well as a treatment and these last up to an hour. Follow up treatments last for about 30m. We don’t usually recommend longer than this to avoid over treating the injury.

Is private physio better than the NHS? Why should I book in with a private physio?

With private physiotherapy treatments at Bucks Osteopathy and Physio, you will get ‘hands on’ treatment (depending on you issue this may include massage, manipulation, exercises, acupuncture etc) – something that largely doesn’t happen with NHS physiotherapy treatment (which tends to be more exercise based and is frequently now also done online). Private physiotherapy treatment also means
you will be able to be seen quickly and choose dates and times to suit you.

What to wear to a physio appointment

Your physiotherapy will want to examine your injury so, if you’re uncomfortable getting undressed, wear loose fitting clothing that won’t restrict your movement – depending on your injury make sure you have no restrictions around you back, shoulders hips or knees and that the physiotherapist can access your injury. We’d recommend loose fitting shirts (that can be rolled up to expose you back) or trousers (that
can be rolled up to expose your knees). Loose fitting t shirts and regular length shorts are also a good option as well as shoes that you can put on and take off easily.
