Menopause MOT
At Bucks Osteopathy & Physio, our Menopause MOT is designed to support women through perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause with a comprehensive assessment focused on movement, pelvic health, strength, nutrition, and overall wellbeing.
A Menopause MOT provides an opportunity to better understand how hormonal changes may be affecting your body and what you can do to manage symptoms proactively. Our physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors that specialise in this area (all of whom have post qualification training specialising in women’s health issues) take an evidence-based, whole-body approach, helping you stay active, strong, and confident throughout this stage of life.
During your appointment, we assess key areas commonly affected during menopause, including:
- Pelvic floor health and bladder symptoms
- Core strength and abdominal function
- Joint pain and stiffness
- Bone health and exercise guidance
- Muscle strength and mobility
- Balance and injury prevention
- Posture and movement patterns
- Return to exercise and activity modification
- Persistent aches, pains, or reduced recovery
- Lifestyle and nutritional factors that may impact energy, recovery, bone health, and body composition
Many women notice changes in their ability to tolerate exercise, recover from activity, maintain muscle mass, or manage weight during menopause. Hormonal changes can also contribute to tendon problems, reduced bone density, pelvic floor dysfunction, disrupted sleep, and increased musculoskeletal pain. Nutrition and lifestyle habits can play an important role in supporting energy levels, muscle health, bone strength, and overall wellbeing during this transition.
As part of your Menopause MOT, we can provide practical nutritional advice and lifestyle guidance to complement your rehabilitation and support healthy ageing. This may include discussion around protein intake, bone health, hydration, recovery, weight management, and fuelling for exercise and activity.
Your assessment may include movement analysis, strength testing, rehabilitation exercises, pelvic floor advice, lifestyle recommendations, and guidance around safe and effective exercise. Where appropriate, we can also help you understand how physiotherapy, exercise, and healthy lifestyle strategies can work alongside medical support and hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
Every assessment is tailored to the individual. Some women seek support for returning to running or the gym, while others simply want to move more comfortably, improve confidence, or better understand the changes happening within their body.
We provide a supportive and confidential environment where you can openly discuss symptoms and concerns without embarrassment or judgement.
If you are experiencing symptoms related to perimenopause or menopause, early support can make a significant difference. Our Menopause MOT helps you take a proactive approach to your health, so you can continue to move well, feel strong, and stay active at every stage of life.
